Ustad Dharambir Singh MBE

Dharambir Singh is one of the most prominent Sitar players and Indian Music educator based in England. As a disciple of the legendary Sitar maestro Ustad Vilayat Khan, Dharambir ji has continued to promote the rich sound of the Imdad Khani and Vilayat Khani Gharana . Dharambir has travelled widely and performed widely in many countries including India, England, Spain, Germany, Italy, Canada and USA.

His musical experience extends beyond the classical realm and he regularly collaborates with musicians from other musical styles. He has initiated numerous innovative projects across the country and is well known for the International Summer Schools in Indian Music.

He has many students of Sitar all over the country and makes regular trips to other cities to teach. Dharambir ji received the National Endowment for Science Technology and the Arts (NESTA) fellowship (2006 to 2010) and also received an MBE in 2011.
